Privacy

Last updated 3 September 2026

Two different things are described here, and they are worth keeping apart: this website, and the launcher you install in your car. They collect very different amounts, and the car collects less.

The short version. Nothing you install passes through a server — files go from your browser to your car over the cable. The website measures how it is used, without cookies and without knowing who you are. The car sends a random number once a day and nothing else, unless you sign in.

The launcher, in your car

Vehicle data never leaves the car. Not your speed, not your location, not what you were listening to, not anything read from the vehicle bus. It is used on the screen in front of you and then it is gone.

Used without an account, the car sends one thing, roughly once a day: a random identifier that means nothing outside our own records, the app version, and the firmware build. That is how we know how many cars run the launcher — including the ones belonging to people who never sign in.

If you sign in, your email address and your own arrangement of the product — home screen layout, presets, macros — are stored so a new car or a reinstall can bring them back. Nothing else.

We cannot tell what any individual car did. That is not a statement about our intentions: the tables holding usage counts have no column to put a car's identifier in, so the question has no answer to give. You can stop even the anonymous counts in Settings › Privacy.

Installing over USB

The installer runs entirely in your browser. An APK you choose is read by the page and written straight to your car over the cable — it is never uploaded anywhere, and we never receive it. Your car's serial number is shown on screen so you can confirm which car you are connected to; it is not sent to us and is deliberately excluded from everything described below.

This website

We use PostHog to understand which parts of this page people use, what they click, and roughly where in the world they are. It runs in the European Union, and it is served from unlokit.net rather than from a third party's domain.

No cookies, and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to storing. Nothing about you is kept in your browser after you close the tab. Coming back tomorrow makes you a new visitor as far as we are concerned.

What is collected

The recordings, stated plainly

We record how the page is used — scrolling, mouse movement, which things get clicked — so we can see where people get stuck instead of guessing. Everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser, and so are your car's serial number and the contents of the log panel. We never receive them.

We are telling you this because a company selling a product on the promise that nothing leaves your car should not be quietly filming its own website. If you would rather not be recorded, turn on Do Not Track in your browser and this site will not measure you at all.

Also counting

Cloudflare, which serves this site, keeps its own aggregate counts of visits and countries. We see the totals; there is no per-visitor view for us to look at.

What we never do

Asking us

If you have an account and want a copy of what is stored against it, or want it deleted, write to our Telegram group. Deleting an account removes the email address and the saved settings; the anonymous daily count cannot be traced back to it and so cannot be picked out to delete.

Website measurement is not tied to an identity, so there is nothing there to hand over or remove — which is a consequence of collecting it that way, rather than a way of avoiding the question.
